Melamine Specifications
The seats, backs and tops are manufactured from finely ground particles of select hardwoods blended together
with color pigments and melamine resins. Seats, backs and tops must meet or exceed standards required under Federal
NEMA specifications.

Resistance to Wear – Resistance exceeds the requirements of commercial standards for high pressure
decorative laminates. NEMA LP2-303.

Resistance to Stains – Is unaffected by soaps, detergents, ink, boiling water, acetone, fingernail polish,
fingernail polish remover, alcohol, fruit juices, milk, grease and other products commonly used in households or
institutions. Exceeds NEMA LP2-303.

Special Chemicals Test - Ten chemicals (acetic acid, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, ethyl acetate,
ethyl alcohol, methanol, methyl ethyl ketone, naphtha (gasoline), toluene, ether and benzene) were checked for stain
resistance in accordance with common testing for wood casework.

Testing Procedure – Three mls of each test solution was applied to a one inch cotton ball that was placed on the
surface to be tested. A small jar was placed over the moist cotton ball to retard solvent evaporation. At the end of one
hour, the jar and cotton ball were removed; the surface was washed with water, dried and surface damage evaluated.
They did not leave any stains on the surface.

Stain Removal: Denatured Alcohol – Good for the removal of glue, ink and permanent markers

Vandalism Spray (Clair Brand): Commercial product for the removal of ink, crayons, permanent marker,
scotch tape, spray paint, etc.

Hair Spray (Aqua Net): Good for the removal of ink

Dry Soft Cloth: Removal of dust and spills

Soap and Water: General cleaning, should be wiped dry

Non-Abrasive Household Cleaners: General and heavy cleaning
